2022 Summer Basketball League Register View Cart

Participants must be registered by Friday, June 10, 2022, to be drafted to a team. Register as soon as possible!

Dates: Monday, June 27 - Sunday, August 21
 
Fees: $158.00 residents, $168.00 non-residents


Financial Assistance is available for Coventry Residents only; contact Human Services at (401) 822-9175 for more information. The deadline to apply for financial assistance is Friday, June 3, or until registration is full, whichever occurs first.  Note: If approved for financial assistance, you must then register at the Parks and Recreation Department.  Approval of financial acceptance does not guarantee availability.    


Location: Games are held at the Paine Field basketball courts
 
Ages: The division is determined by the grade your child has completed as of 6/30/2022. This program is for youth entering grades 4-12 in the 2022/2023 academic year.

 
Assessments: Assessments provide an opportunity for coaches to observe the players prior to selecting teams in the draft.  
No shows for assessments will be picked at random in the draft. Evaluations will be held at the Paine Field basketball courts on the following dates:
 
Girls (Completed Grades 3-6) - Saturday, June 11, @ 1:00 pm.

Boys Lower (Completed Grades 3 & 4) - Saturday, June 11, @ 4:00:pm
Co-ed Boys (Completed Grades 5-7 & Girls (Completed Grade 7)- Sunday, June 12, @ 1:00 pm
Co-ed (Completed Grades 8-11) - Sunday June 12, @ 4:00 pm
 **There will be no late registration past the evaluation days. **
 
Draft: The draft will occur immediately after the evaluations with the coaches. Participants are not present at the draft


Schedules: Coaches will provide participants with schedules and t-shirts after the draft date

Divisions: The 2022 Summer Basketball League divisions will be determined based on registration. More information will be provided at a later time. If you have any questions regarding how divisions work, please reach out to the basketball program director, Slade Sharma, at

The schedule will run Monday-Thursday during the week. Days for divisions will be released at a later date. Due to scheduling constraints some make-up games may need to be scheduled during the weekend. Times will vary.

All Star Game: We will have an All-Star game on the last possible date of the season (Sunday, August 21)
 
Become a Coach: All volunteer coaches are required to fill out a coaching application and a background check in order to be eligible to coach. Contact Slade Sharma, at coventrypnrbasketball@gmail.com, if interested.


 


FAQ
When will we hear from our Coach? Within two weeks after the coaches draft has been completed, coaches will begin to reach out to each parent directly through an email and/or phone call. Game schedules will be released to you before the start of the season.
How do I pick the correct uniform size for my child? If you are new to our programs, we always suggest ordering one size larger just in case. Sizes can run small depending on the vendor used each sport. Sizes range from Youth XS to Adult XL. Once rosters are set, we order the shirts and sizes cannot be switched.

If we don’t like our team assignment/practice schedule/game schedule can we switch teams? 
Unfortunately we are not able to move players around once rosters are created & shirts have been ordered.


 

 

General Information
  • The division is determined by the grade your child has completed as of 6/30/2022.
  • Schedules are developed after the evaluation/draft night.
  • There is a strict four game attendance policy. Coaches and parents/guardians will be notified when a player has missed three games. Should a child be absent for four games, they will be notified that they are no longer eligible to play for the remainder of the season.
  • Should a player experience a prolonged injury or illness a doctor’s note must be submitted to the Parks and Recreation office. Only the games affected by the injury or illness will be excused. There are NO OTHER EXCEPTIONS!
  • Interested in volunteer coaching? Must be 18 years old or older. Volunteer and BCI forms must be filled out in person at the recreation office.
