Dates: Monday, June 29 - Sunday, August 16
Fees: $135 residents, $145 non-residents
Location: All games for all divisions will be played on the Paine Field BIG basketball court! Unless games have to be moved indoors to the Town Hall Annex.
Ages: The division is determined by the grade your child has completed as of 6/19/2026. This program is for youth who finished grades 3-11 in the 2025/2026 academic year.
Evaluations: Evaluations provide an opportunity for coaches to observe the players prior to selecting teams. All players, that did not participate in the league the previous year, or who are changing divisions, must present themselves for a tryout evaluation. No shows for evaluations will be picked at random in the draft. Evaluations will be held at the Town Hall Annex Gym (1675 Flat River Rd) on the following dates:
Girls (Completed Grades 3-6) - Tuesday, June 2, @ 6:00 pm.
Boys Lower (Completed Grades 3 & 4) - Tuesday, June 2, @ 7:00 pm
Co-ed (Completed Grades 5&6) - Wednesday, June 3, @ 6:00 pm
Co-ed (Completed Grades 7&8) - Wednesday, June 3, @ 7:00 pm
Co-ed (Completed Grades 9-11) - Wednesday June 3, @ 8:00 pm

Schedules: Coaches will provide participants with schedules and t-shirts after the evaluations
Divisions: The 2026 Summer Basketball League divisions will be based on the number of registrations for each grade or age group, which may affect division coordination. More information will be provided at a later time. If you have any questions regarding how divisions work, please reach out to Parks and Recreation at recprograms@coventryri.gov
The regular season schedule will run Monday-Thursday during the week. Days for divisions will be released at a later date. Due to scheduling constraints some make-up games may need to be scheduled during the weekend. Times will vary. Playoff games may need to be played on altered days of the week.
Playoffs: Playoffs start the week of August 10. Schedules may differ from the regular season times and days played. Please plan accordingly for that last week.
Become a Coach: All volunteer coaches are required to fill out a coaching application and a background check in order to be eligible to coach. Contact Parks and Recreation at recprograms@coventryri.gov
FAQ
When will we hear from our Coach? Within two weeks after the coaches draft has been completed, coaches will begin to reach out to each parent directly through an email and/or phone call. Game schedules will be released to you before the start of the season.
How do I pick the correct uniform size for my child? If you are new to our programs, we always suggest ordering one size larger just in case. Sizes can run small depending on the vendor used each sport. Sizes range from Youth XS to Adult XL. Once rosters are set, we order the shirts and sizes cannot be switched.
If we don’t like our team assignment/practice schedule/game schedule can we switch teams? Unfortunately we are NOT able to move players around once rosters are created & shirts have been ordered.
